Bypass Pin Sets are used with Ground Support Equipment (GSE). They are utilized as Gear Pins or Steering Bypass Pins during aircraft pushback operations.
Once the pin is inserted, the landing gear's steering hydraulics are bypassed. This allows the aircraft to be safely moved by a tow tractor without the need to deactivate the aircraft's entire hydraulic system.
A highly visible warning streamer with the text “Remove Before Flight” (RBF flag) is connected to the ball lock pin via a heavy-duty retaining cable, ensuring the pin is never forgotten before departure.
